DX Physio Balgowlah & Cremorne Sydney
Every woman deserves to feel strong, comfortable, and confident in her body.
Do you experience back pain, bladder leaks, or core weakness following birth? Is pelvic pain or painful intercourse impacting your daily life or your sense of intimacy?
Women’s health is a deeply personal and complex area of care. At DX Physio, our experienced female physiotherapists offer tailored women’s health physio programs to support your confidence, strength, and comfort in movement.
Our women’s health physiotherapy services are designed to support a wide variety of conditions, from pelvic floor issues to postnatal care and more.
Many women come to us with ongoing back or hip pain that just never seems to go away. They may have tried stretches, massage, or general physio, but the pain keeps coming back.
One area that is frequently overlooked is the pelvic region. Pelvic muscles that are weak, tight, or out of balance, especially following pregnancy, menopause, or surgery, may have an impact on your posture, stability, and breathing.
This is where women’s health physio may make a difference:
Taking a holistic approach, we aim to help you understand your body better, build strength, and support your recovery so you may feel more at home in your body.
A woman's body goes through significant changes across her lifetime. Women's health physiotherapy may help you move through each stage with greater ease and confidence.
Our women's health physiotherapists are committed to providing a judgment-free space where open conversations are welcomed and compassionate, targeted care is always offered.
Are you finding recovery after birth, surgery, or menopause challenging?
Our women’s health physiotherapists are here to support you on your journey back to feeling like yourself.
By seeking to understand the underlying cause of your concerns, we may be able to better meet your individual needs and provide tailored care through a range of treatment approaches.
If you have been living with chronic pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, painful intercourse, difficulty controlling your bladder and bowel function, pelvic physiotherapy may be helpful.
We also see many women during pregnancy or in the postpartum period for support with exercise, core recovery, and pelvic floor health.
Prolapse may present with a range of symptoms, including a sensation of heaviness or pressure in the pelvic region, a bulging or dragging feeling, difficulty managing bowel movements or bowel control, and discomfort during intimacy.
Beyond pelvic health, our team also has experience assisting with musculoskeletal concerns, including back pain, hip pain, and pregnancy-related conditions. Our holistic approach to care is centred around supporting your overall quality of life.
Your first appointment includes a detailed discussion about your symptoms, medical history, and goals. Your physiotherapist will then perform a thorough assessment, which may include:
We’ll then work together to put together a personalised treatment plan that is suited to your goals, needs, and comfort level.
As part of your treatment plan, manual therapy may be used to help address areas of tension or restriction in the pelvic region and surrounding musculoskeletal structures.
Initial assessments are typically 60 minutes long, allowing time for a detailed consultation and physical assessment. Follow-up appointments are usually around 45 minutes, though this may vary depending on your individual treatment plan.
A referral is not required to book an appointment with us. You are welcome to book directly. If you do have a referral from your GP or obstetrician, please bring it along so we can coordinate your care where appropriate.
There is nothing specific you need to do to prepare for your first appointment. We suggest wearing comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. Should an internal examination be appropriate, your physiotherapist will walk you through what this involves; it is always optional and entirely consent-based.
Progress varies from person to person and depends on your condition and goals. With consistent adherence to their home exercise program, many women may begin to notice improvement within three to six sessions.
Our focus is on supporting long-term recovery and function, rather than simply addressing short-term symptoms.
During pregnancy, pelvic floor physiotherapy may help with the management of back or pelvic girdle pain, posture improvement, and physical preparation for birth.
In the postpartum period, we may support you with abdominal separation recovery, pelvic floor strengthening, pain management, and a guided return to exercise.
Pelvic surgery recovery may impact pelvic floor function, movement, and comfort in ways that are not always covered by standard post-operative care. Our team offers pelvic floor rehabilitation to support your recovery at a pace that works for your body.
Sexual health is an important but often overlooked aspect of women’s well-being. Painful intercourse or pelvic floor muscle tension can affect intimacy and quality of life.
Our physiotherapists offer compassionate, evidence-based care in a judgment-free environment to help you address these health concerns.
Where appropriate, our experienced team works collaboratively with other health professionals, including GPs and obstetricians, to help your care stay coordinated and comprehensive. We believe that holistic care means looking at the whole picture, not just one piece of it.
Pelvic floor physiotherapy is covered by most private health funds under Physiotherapy: Extras. If your general practitioner has referred you under an Enhanced Primary Care plan, you may also be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to five sessions per year. We are happy to help you check your eligibility at the time of booking.
We understand that unexpected things come up. If you need to reschedule or cancel, we kindly request at least 24 hours’ notice to allow us to manage our appointments appropriately.
Please be aware that cancellations made within 24 hours of your appointment, or missed appointments, may incur a cancellation fee, as your appointment time is reserved exclusively for you.
No woman should feel unsupported when it comes to her health. At DX Physio, our tailored women’s and pelvic health physiotherapy programs are designed to help address your concerns and support you in achieving your health goals.
Our qualified physiotherapists and welcoming environment are here to ensure you always feel heard, valued, and respected.
