DX Physio Balgowlah & Cremorne Sydney
Every woman deserves to feel strong, comfortable, and confident in her body.
Do you experience back pain, bladder leaks, or core weakness following birth? Is pelvic pain or painful intercourse impacting your daily life or your sense of intimacy?
Women’s health is multifaceted and deeply personal. At DX Physio, our experienced female physiotherapists provide tailored women’s health physio care to support you towards moving with greater confidence, strength, and comfort.
Our women’s health physiotherapy programs are tailored to assist with a wide range of conditions, including pelvic floor concerns, postnatal care, and much more.
Many women come to us with ongoing back or hip pain that just never seems to go away. They may have tried stretches, massage, or general physio, but the pain keeps coming back.
The pelvic region is often an overlooked contributor to ongoing pain. When pelvic muscles are weak, tight, or imbalanced, particularly after pregnancy, menopause, or surgery, they may affect your posture, stability, and even your breathing patterns.
This is where women’s health physiotherapy may help:
Our holistic approach is designed to help you gain a deeper understanding of your body, build strength, and work toward feeling more comfortable and confident in yourself.
A woman's body goes through significant changes across her lifetime. Women's health physiotherapy may help you move through each stage with greater ease and confidence.
Our women's health physiotherapists provide a safe, judgment-free space where you can speak openly and receive compassionate, personalised care.
Are birth, surgery, or menopause leaving you feeling less like yourself?
Our women’s health physio team is here to help you work toward feeling more like yourself again.
Our approach involves looking beyond the symptoms for the root cause of your concerns, which may allow us to tailor your care using a variety of treatment options.
If chronic pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, painful intercourse or difficulty with bladder and bowel control are affecting your daily life, pelvic health physiotherapy may be a helpful option to explore.
Many women also choose to see us throughout pregnancy or in the postpartum period for guidance on exercise, core recovery, and pelvic floor health.
Common prolapse symptoms may include a feeling of heaviness or pressure in the pelvic region, a bulging or dragging sensation, difficulty with bowel movements or bowel control, and discomfort during intimacy.
Alongside pelvic health conditions, our team also has experience supporting musculoskeletal injuries such as back pain, hip pain, and pregnancy-related concerns. We take a holistic approach to health care and focus on addressing quality of life.
Your first visit begins with an in-depth discussion of your symptoms, medical history, and goals. Your physiotherapist will then conduct a thorough assessment, which may include:
Following your assessment, we’ll collaborate with you to create a personalised treatment plan that reflects your needs and comfort level.
As part of your treatment plan, manual therapy may be used to help address areas of tension or restriction in the pelvic region and surrounding musculoskeletal structures.
First appointments are usually around 60 minutes in length, incorporating a detailed consultation and physical assessment. Subsequent follow-up sessions generally take around 45 minutes, depending on the nature of your treatment plan.
No referral is necessary; you can book directly with us at any time. However, if you have received a referral from your GP or obstetrician, we encourage you to bring it along so we may work collaboratively with your broader care team.
You don’t need to do anything special beforehand. We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move easily. If an internal examination is appropriate, your physio will discuss this with you in detail; it’s always optional and consent-based.
The number of sessions needed will vary depending on your individual condition and goals. Many women may begin to notice improvement within three to six sessions, particularly when their home exercise program is followed consistently.
Our approach is centred on long-term recovery and improved function, going beyond short-term symptom management.
During pregnancy, pelvic floor physiotherapy may help with the management of back or pelvic girdle pain, posture improvement, and physical preparation for birth.
In the postpartum period, we may support you with abdominal separation recovery, pelvic floor strengthening, pain management, and a guided return to exercise.
Pelvic surgery recovery may impact pelvic floor function, movement, and comfort in ways that are not always covered by standard post-operative care. Our team offers pelvic floor rehabilitation to support your recovery at a pace that works for your body.
Sexual health is a significant yet frequently overlooked aspect of women’s overall well-being. Painful intercourse or pelvic floor muscle tension may affect intimacy and quality of life.
Our team of physiotherapists is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care in a judgment-free space, supporting you in addressing these health concerns with sensitivity and respect.
Where it is clinically appropriate, our team collaborates with other health professionals, including GPs and obstetricians, to support coordinated and comprehensive care. We are committed to a holistic approach that considers your overall well-being, not just a single aspect of your health.
Most private health funds cover pelvic floor physiotherapy under Physiotherapy: Extras. If you are referred under an Enhanced Primary Care plan from your general practitioner, you may also be eligible for a Medicare rebate for up to five sessions per year. We can help you check your eligibility during booking.
We understand that life can be unpredictable. Should you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, we kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice.
Cancellations within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment or missed appointments may attract a cancellation fee, as that time has been set aside specifically for your care.
