What is Involved in a Physiotherapy Session?

Your physiotherapist will assess how your body moves to help identify the underlying cause of your concern, and from there, develop a treatment plan tailored to your individual goals and lifestyle.

Your treatment plan may include:

Manual Therapy

Through gentle manipulation of muscles and joints, manual therapy may help reduce pain and work toward improving your mobility.

Exercise Programs

A tailored exercise programme may assist in building strength and improving flexibility.

Shockwave Therapy

shockwave therapy delivers high-energy sound waves to targeted areas, which may help stimulate tissue and assist in supporting your recovery.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Sound waves applied to the affected area may help support tissue recovery and assist in managing inflammation.

Dry Needling

Using fine needles applied to targeted muscle points, dry needling may help address muscle tightness and assist in managing pain.

Clinical Reformer Pilates

Clinical reformer pilates may help improve movement patterns and support long-term recovery.

Pain doesn’t have to get in the way of living well.

Contact our physiotherapy team today and we’ll help you explore your options and look for a path forward.

First appointments are usually between 45 and 60 minutes in length. Follow-up sessions generally take between 30 and 45 minutes, depending on the nature of your treatment plan.

Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and provides easy access to the affected area is best. Activewear or loose-fitting clothes are a great option.

Should your extras cover include physiotherapy, you may claim a rebate immediately via HICAPS at either our Cremorne or Balgowlah clinic.

Medicare CDM/EPC referrals from your GP are welcome at DX Physio. A valid referral may allow you to claim a Medicare rebate for up to five sessions per calendar year, though please note a small gap fee will still apply.

If shockwave therapy is recommended as part of your treatment plan, a $30 surcharge will apply per session.

We do accept both workers’ compensation and CTP claims. Please ensure you bring your claim number and any relevant documentation to your first appointment.

Name

This will vary depending on your condition and goals. Your physiotherapist will discuss a recommended visit frequency as part of your tailored treatment plan following your initial assessment.

Where clinically appropriate, hands-on manual therapy is incorporated into your physiotherapy consultation at no additional cost.

Dry needling techniques involve fine needles inserted into targeted muscle points, which some people find mildly uncomfortable. Your physio will check in with you throughout to help keep you comfortable.

Our physiotherapists are experienced in assessing and managing a variety of sports and exercise-related injuries. Whether you compete at a high level or simply enjoy staying active, we’ll develop a personalised care plan designed to support your recovery and help you return to the activities you love.

Physiotherapy is not only beneficial for managing existing injuries. It may also help you develop a better understanding of your body, improve your posture, and move more efficiently, which may in turn help reduce the risk of future injuries.

Physiotherapy isn’t only for when something goes wrong. Regular physiotherapy may help you move more efficiently, manage muscle tightness, and improve posture, supporting a healthier, more active life long term.
