Individualised, evidence-based physiotherapy to support you at every stage of your health journey.
At DX Physio, we are committed to helping you move better and feel more comfortable in your body. Physiotherapy looks at how the body moves and functions, drawing on manual techniques to support your overall health.
Whether you’re recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or looking for a women’s health physio near Northern Beaches, our experienced physiotherapists are here to help.
By looking at how your body moves, your physiotherapist may identify the underlying cause of your concern and tailor a treatment plan to suit your goals and lifestyle.
A range of treatment options may be used, including:
Gentle manipulation of the muscles and joints may help to relieve discomfort and support improved mobility.
A personalised exercise programme may help build strength and flexibility.
Shockwave therapy delivers high-energy sound waves to targeted areas, which may help stimulate tissue and assist in supporting your recovery.
Sound waves directed at the affected area may help support recovery and reduce inflammation.
Using fine needles applied to targeted muscle points, dry needling may help address muscle tightness and assist in managing pain.
Through guided movement on the reformer, clinical reformer pilates may help support improved movement patterns and long-term recovery.
Whether it’s back pain, bladder leaks or core weakness that has stayed with you since giving birth, or pelvic pain and pain during sex that’s affecting both your daily life and your intimacy, these aren’t things you should just have to learn to live with.
Women’s health is complex and deeply personal, and it’s different for everyone. Our experienced pelvic health physios at DX Physio tailor your women’s health physio care to what you’re going through, with one aim in mind: getting you moving with confidence, strength and comfort.
Not everyone who ends up seeing our pelvic floor physiotherapists comes to us with a pelvic complaint. Many women arrive with ongoing back or hip pain that just never seems to go away, having already worked through stretches, massage or general physio and found that the pain keeps coming back.
What may get missed in all of that is the pelvic region. When pelvic muscles are weak, tight or out of balance, which can happen after pregnancy, menopause or surgery, they can affect your posture, your stability and even your breathing. Assessing the pelvic floor gives us a clearer picture of how these muscles may be contributing to your symptoms, which helps shape the next steps in your care.
Every woman’s health experience is personal, and no two sets of symptoms are exactly alike. At DX Physio, our pelvic health physios shape women’s health physio care around your concerns, circumstances and goals, helping you work towards more comfortable, capable and confident movement.
Pain doesn’t have to hold you back.

Comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and provides easy access to the affected area is best. Activewear or loose-fitting clothes are a great option.
If physiotherapy is included in your extras cover, you may be eligible to claim a rebate on the spot through HICAPS at our Cremorne and Balgowlah clinics.
Medicare CDM/EPC referrals from your GP are welcome at DX Physio. A valid referral may allow you to claim a Medicare rebate for up to five sessions per calendar year, though please note a small gap fee will still apply.
Where shockwave therapy is recommended as part of your care, a $30 surcharge per session will be applied.
Both workers’ compensation and CTP claims are accepted at DX Physio. Please bring your claim number and relevant documentation to your first appointment.
It depends on your condition and goals. After your initial assessment, your physiotherapist will provide a tailored treatment plan and suggest a recommended visit frequency.
Manual therapy is included as part of your physiotherapy consultation when it is considered clinically necessary by your physiotherapist.
Dry needling techniques involve fine needles inserted into targeted muscle points, which some people find mildly uncomfortable. Your physio will check in with you throughout to help keep you comfortable.
Our physiotherapists are experienced in assessing and managing a variety of sports and exercise-related injuries. Whether you compete at a high level or simply enjoy staying active, we’ll develop a personalised care plan designed to support your recovery and help you return to the activities you love.
Beyond managing existing injuries, physiotherapy may also play a valuable role in helping you understand how your body moves, supporting better posture, and improving movement efficiency. This approach may assist in reducing the likelihood of future injuries.
Physiotherapy isn’t only for when an injury occurs. Attending regular physiotherapy sessions may help support more efficient movement, assist in managing muscle tightness, and contribute to improved posture, helping you maintain a healthier and more active life long term.
Women’s health physio is a focused area of practice covering pelvic health, pregnancy and postnatal recovery, menopause, and the pain or continence concerns that come with them. Our pelvic health physios see women across Sydney at every stage of life, from first-time mums to women navigating menopause and beyond.
Women’s health physio is the broader umbrella, while pelvic floor physiotherapy looks specifically at the muscles that support your bladder, bowel and pelvic organs. Women’s health appointments may involve some element of pelvic floor assessment, because those muscles influence so much of how your body moves.
Your first appointment will begin with a thorough conversation about your symptoms, birth or surgical history, when things changed and what you would like to achieve. We will then look at your movement and physical function before developing a plan suited to your needs. You remain in control throughout the appointment, with consent required for treatment and plenty of opportunity to ask questions.
At your initial visit, we will discuss your current concerns, relevant birth or surgical history, changes you have noticed and your health goals. This is followed by an assessment of how your body moves and functions, which helps guide an individualised care plan. Treatment only proceeds with your consent, and you can ask questions at any stage.
If you have a chronic condition management plan from your GP, Medicare may cover up to five allied health sessions each calendar year when you are referred for physiotherapy. The five sessions are a combined allowance across the allied health services under that plan, and your GP will advise whether you meet the eligibility requirements. A private health fund may also contribute if physiotherapy is included in your extras cover. The contribution varies according to your cover and annual limits, so confirm the details with your fund before your appointment.
Physiotherapy may support a broad range of concerns, including back or neck pain, sports injuries, joint pain, muscle strains, headaches, pelvic pain, pregnancy-related discomfort, postnatal recovery, bladder concerns, bowel changes, incontinence, prolapse and rehabilitation after surgery or injury. Your care is shaped around your symptoms, needs and personal goals.
Physiotherapy may support people experiencing bladder leakage, urinary incontinence or pelvic pain through an assessment of pelvic floor control, muscle tension and movement patterns. Your plan may include training for the pelvic floor muscles, advice on bladder routines, breathing work and tailored exercises.
Where clinically appropriate, an assessment may also include a physical examination and, with your informed consent, an internal assessment. Physiotherapy may support related concerns such as bowel symptoms, pain during intercourse and pelvic organ prolapse, with care tailored to your symptoms, goals and comfort.
In most situations, you do not need a referral to book physiotherapy. The appointment may include practical advice, tailored exercise, movement approaches and hands-on treatment, based on your symptoms and aims. Depending on your level of private health fund cover, you may be able to claim a rebate, although annual limits and eligibility vary. Contact your provider to confirm what applies.
The potential benefits of physiotherapy extend beyond injury management. Regular physiotherapy may assist you in moving more efficiently, managing muscle tightness, and working toward better posture, all of which may support a healthier, more active lifestyle over time.Physiotherapist-led exercise classes offer supervised movement sessions focused on building strength, improving mobility, supporting balance and maintaining overall movement. Your exercises may be adapted to your current needs and goals, with ongoing guidance during the class.
