Emsella Chair Balgowlah

What Is the EMSELLA Chair?

The EMSELLA Chair is designed to stimulate pelvic floor muscles while you remain fully clothed and seated. Using advanced high-intensity focused electromagnetic technology, Emsella Chair can induce 11,000 supramaximal contractions of the pelvic floor— at an intensity and repetition that would be extremely difficult to achieve through voluntary pelvic floor exercises alone.

And the process is simple:
You sit comfortably on the chair, fully clothed, while the treatment does the work.

How Can EMSELLA Be Used for Pelvic Health?

Pelvic floor dysfunction concerns can affect people at different stages of life and may arise following pregnancy and childbirth, during menopause, after surgery or alongside other changes affecting pelvic health.

EMSELLA may be considered as part of a broader pelvic health approach for people experiencing concerns such as:

Your physiotherapist will first consider your symptoms and circumstances before determining whether EMSELLA is a suitable option for you.

What Happens During an EMSELLA Session?

EMSELLA pelvic floor treatment takes place while you remain fully clothed and seated on the chair. The electromagnetic stimulation produces repeated pelvic floor muscle contractions during the session.

You may notice a sensation of muscle contraction or pulsing as the treatment takes place. Your physiotherapist can explain what to expect before your session and adjust the approach according to your circumstances.

There is no need for an internal examination during the EMSELLA session itself. However, depending on your concerns, a separate pelvic health assessment may be recommended as part of your overall care.

Is EMSELLA Right for Me?

EMSELLA is not necessarily suitable for everyone. Your physiotherapist will discuss your symptoms, health history and goals before recommending whether this treatment is appropriate.

An assessment can also help identify whether your pelvic floor muscles are weak, tight, poorly coordinated or being affected by other factors. Understanding the broader picture allows your physiotherapist to determine the most appropriate approach for your circumstances.

If you are experiencing bladder leakage, urgency, pelvic discomfort or other pelvic floor strength concerns, you can discuss these with your physiotherapist in a private and supportive environment.

Each Emsella treatment session takes around 30 minutes. Most people complete a course of approximately six sessions to achieve noticeable results.

No. EMSELLA treatment is performed while you remain fully clothed and seated on the chair.

EMSELLA may be considered for some people experiencing urinary incontinence or pelvic floor weakness. However, bladder leakage can have different contributing factors, so an assessment with a pelvic health physiotherapist can help determine whether EMSELLA is an appropriate option for you.

EMSELLA should not automatically be viewed as a replacement for pelvic floor physiotherapy or individualised exercise. Depending on your circumstances, your physiotherapist may recommend EMSELLA alongside pelvic floor training and other strategies.

EMSELLA may not be suitable for everyone, including some people with certain medical devices or health conditions. Your physiotherapist will discuss your health history and any relevant precautions before treatment.
